Q: What is your cancellation policy?

Q: Do I need travel insurance?

A: Because vacations can be disrupted for a variety of reasons including (but not limited to) emergencies, death, airline delays and disruptions, illness, and bad weather, we recommend you consider purchasing travel insurance. We offer insurance through CSA Travel Protection at 6.95% of your total reservation. It is an optional add-on and can be added to your reservation at the time of booking.

Q: What time is check-in / check-out?

A: Check-in is at 4 PM check-out is 10 AM.

Q: How do I choose the right condo or guestroom for my stay on the North Shore?

A: We have many condos and guestrooms to choose from, each with its own unique charm and amenities. All of the condos and guestrooms are listed on our website with pictures, descriptions, amenities, and other information. We encourage you to take a look to see what may be of interest, either by searching specific dates or by the number of guests in your party. Our staff is also happy to assist you in finding the best option for your stay. We especially encourage guests with mobility issues, asthma or allergies, or other special circumstances to give us a call for assistance in finding the right spot for your time on the North Shore.

Q: Do you allow pets in your homes?

A: The Poplar River Condos are not pet-friendly and guests are not permitted to bring pets.

Q: Do I need to clean the home afterward?

A: No. The reservation price includes a cleaning fee in which we will have someone clean and prepare for the next guest. However, we do ask that you leave the home ready for the cleaner, such as removing garbage, loading and running the dishwasher, etc.

Q: What is provided? Do I need to bring linens?

A: Kitchen amenities such as pots, pans, knives, etc. are provided in full floor and suite rentals with kitchens. Basic household products such as trash bags, paper towels, and toilet paper, plus dish and bar soap will be provided. Linens (towels, sheets, blankets, pillows) are provided for the bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens. Due to the health code, we cannot provide any food or seasoning items, even salt and pepper. Please bring these for your stay if you need them. Most other amenities are listed in the property description.

Q: Where is your office located?

A: Our office is located in Lutsen at 5335 West Highway 61.

Q: Will I have cell phone service up there?

A: Most carriers will have service around Highway 61 through Grand Marais. Outside of the main towns and past Grand Marais service is spotty, at best. AT&T, Verizon, and T Mobile have the best coverage here. However, we do experience occasional short-term outages and other interferences with cell service, so you should always plan ways to communicate without the use of cell phones should service not be available.

Q: Do you own all of these homes?

A: No, Cascade Vacation Rentals simply manages the rentals and maintenance of the condos and guestrooms at Poplar River Condos. Each floor in a building has a different owner who may customize and update their condos as they wish. The condos are usually well-loved family retreats. Many have had the same owners since the condos were built.

Q: Can I buy a gift certificate for a friend or family member? I want to mark a special occasion.

A: Yes! We offer customizable gift certificates that can be for a dollar value or a specific stay. A gift certificate is a great idea for birthdays, weddings/honeymoons, baby showers/babymoons, retirements, graduations, holidays, and more. Whether they are a long-time guest or new to vacation rentals, there is no better gift than time away on the North Shore. Please contact our office for more information or to purchase a gift certificate.

Q: We are coming up for an event (such as a wedding) on the North Shore. Should we bring our own iron, ironing board, and hair dryer?

A: Yes, please do bring them with you if you need them. Many of our homes are not equipped with these items.

Q: We’re planning a family reunion for 20 people, do you have someplace for us?

A: We don’t have one home that will fit more than 11 guests, but if you combine multiple floors and guestrooms together, we can accommodate large groups. Contact us to coordinate rentals for large groups so we can ensure your entire party is close together.

Q: Are you still a part of Lutsen Resort?

A: No. The Poplar River Condos are now managed by Cascade Vacation Rentals. Guests can still dine at the Lutsen Resort restaurant, which is open to the public, but you will no longer pick up card keys from Lutsen Resort or have access to other Lutsen Resort amenities.

Q: How do we check in?

A: All check-ins will now be direct. Meaning that you do not need to stop anywhere prior to arriving at your assigned unit. You will receive an email with check-in instructions and a local area guide that includes a code to access your unit and other instructions like parking and trash removal. Door codes are different for each guest.
