Lutsen Log Cabin 409 is a handcrafted two-bedroom cabin overlooking Lake Superior in picturesque Lutsen, Minnesota.

Lutsen Log Cabin 409 is a true log cabin with vaulted ceilings providing a true Northwoods experience with wonderful views of Lake Superior from the picture windows. The cabin has a great room with a full galley kitchen, a dining area with room for the whole family, and a living room featuring a wood-burning fireplace. Enjoy Lake Superior views from the large windows or step out onto the lake-facing deck off the great room.

The cabin features a king guestroom as well as a double guestroom with two full beds and either a futon or sleeper sofa in the living room for additional guests. 

Step out onto the lake-facing deck to enjoy your morning cup of coffee or a refreshing afternoon drink as you take in the sights and sounds of Lake Superior. 

This cabin is pet-free and should be dander allergy-free.

The Lutsen Log Cabins are now managed by Cascade Vacation Rentals. The cabins are no longer associated with Lutsen Resort.

Area Information

Lutsen Log Cabin 409 is part of a set of ten traditional log cabins that were formerly part of Lutsen Resort on the shores of Lake Superior. Conveniently located near the bottom of Ski Hill Road in Lutsen, Minnesota, this amazing location provides easy access to Lutsen Mountains Recreation Area as well as many other local attractions. In the winter, enjoy a day of skiing at the Midwest’s premiere ski resort. During the summer months, the Alpine Slide and site-seeing Gondola are two popular activities to do at Lutsen Mountains. The Superior National at Lutsen Golf Course is a recently renovated 27-hole golf course located right across the street. The Gitchi Gami State Trail is easily accessible across Highway 61 from the Lutsen Log Cabins.

Just ten miles in either direction you will find a fabulous State Park: going west you will find Temperance River State Park and going east you will find Cascade River State Park. The picturesque town of Grand Marais is just a twenty-minute scenic drive away. Grand Marais is home to the North House Folk School and Grand Marais Art Colony. You will also find dozens of ma and pa shops and restaurants you can enjoy during your stay.

Peaceful Happy Place

My partner and I have stayed at Cabin 409 many, many times and always leave feeling refreshed. It is the perfect place to disconnect and relax. Our favorite things to do while at the cabin are sitting on the deck with a glass of wine from North Shore Winery and to read next to the fire with the windows cracked so we can hear the waves of the lake below. With a full kitchen, we don’t need to worry about bringing anything with us besides groceries; they have it all. It’s a fabulous location that is a short drive to some great hiking and cross-country skiing while also being tucked away and quite private. Truly my happy place and a peaceful getaway.

Great North Shore Getaway

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Hiked to Oberg Mountain, Gooseberry Falls, the High Falls on the Pigeon River and Caribou Falls. Spent most of our evenings around a fire just up the road at the winery. Loved falling asleep to the sound of the waves rolling onto the shore, and waking up to watch the sunrise over the lake while making breakfast. Will miss our friend, the bald eagle, who seems to keep regular rounds, flying southwest along the shore, right past the back deck, around 10:00 a.m. most mornings.

Perfect Getaway from Twin Cites

This cabin is AMAZING. There is so much space and it was so clean! Beautiful views of Lake Superior from every angle. Being up early enough to watch the sunrise was incredible. Fully stocked kitchen which is great since we like to cook while we are out of town. Very happy they have a coffee grinder for whole bean coffee!! We found endless hikes nearby and fun little shops to explore. An easy 5 star review!
