After a year off in 2020, Oh Ole Night Returns in 2021! This popular holiday festival celebrates the area’s Scandinavian heritage (as in, Sven and OLE, get it?) and is a popular family-friendly holiday tradition in Grand Marais.Traditionally, the day after Thanksgiving is a festive time in downtown Grand Marais as the Oh Ole Night celebration takes place. Shoppers explore the sales happening in local stores during the day. Then, when night rolls around, everyone gathers along the streets of town for a parade and tree lighting ceremony. The evening is then capped off with a fireworks display.
The event is hosted by Visit Cook County. In 2020, Oh ole Night, Grand Marais’ popular holiday festival, went virtual. Now, in 2021, it is returning to its classic form!
If you’re celebrating Thanksgiving with us on the North Shore you can join in on the fun! The parade starts at 5:30 pm and runs from the Co-Op/Stone Harbor parking lot. Parade watchers can line the streets along Broadway, Wisconsin Street, and 1st Ave to see the parade.
After the parade, head over to Harbor Park for the lighting of the tree followed by fireworks over the Grand Marais Harbor.
